Postnatal Physiotherapy

Helping women before and after pregnancy with physiotherapy.

Pregnancy causes a dramatic change on the body, and the recovery of getting back to your former self can be a significant journey also.

There are common physical challenges and ailments that require professional assessment and management. If you are experiencing one or more of the below symptoms, it is important to talk to your General Practitioner (GP) and who may recommend you to a physiotherapist:

  • Weakness in your stomach and pelvic floor muscles
  • Leakage of urine when sneezing, coughing, exercising
  • Urgency or rushing to the toilet, with or without leaking
  • Frequent urination
  • Difficulty initiating urination
  • Problems emptying the bladder completely (including after-dribble)
  • Leakage of feces or wind
  • Urgency or rushing to the toilet
  • Constipation and/or difficult emptying
  • Pain with sexual intercourse
  • Neck or back pain
  • Pelvic girdle pain
  • Pain in the vaginal, vulval, pelvic, coccyx, rectal or bladder region

A professional assessment is required to identify the cause of these symptoms, and a physiotherapist can advise what treatment will be the most successful for your body and symptoms.
